I lost 30% of my capital in a trade on NEAR/USDT – and here are the most important lessons I learned
I entered a trade on NEAR based on a false breakout of a strong resistance level on the 1-hour timeframe, expecting a strong move towards higher targets. However, unfortunately, the price moved against me immediately after I entered.
Trade Details:
Entry: 7.25 USDT
Stop Loss: 6.80 (I didn't set it, and that was my biggest mistake)
Mandatory Exit: 6.10 after the price declined by 30%
The most important lessons I learned:
1. Setting a stop loss is non-negotiable – without a stop loss, technical analysis turns into gambling.
2. Don't enter a trade just because the price is "close to resistance" – wait for confirmation of a close above it.
3. Respect the trading plan no matter how confident you are – overconfidence hurt me in this trade.
From now on, I will focus on strict capital management and clearly define a stop loss before entering any trade.
