Pixelmon announces deal with Avalanche for flagship RPG and idle game
Pixelmon, the pixel art NFT brand-turned-game publisher, has partnered exclusively with Avalanche Blockchain to launch its flagship role-playing game (RPG) (Warden’s Ascent) and a follow-up idle game called (Nova Thera Chronicles).
Both games will debut on Avalanche’s C-Chain blockchain, a fast, low-fee blockchain designed to support gaming applications.
The team said Avalanche’s scalability and success in Web3 games such as (Off The Grid) and (MapleStory Universe) were key factors in their decision to adopt the blockchain.
The early access version of (Warden's Ascent) is now available on the Google Play Store, and the full release is expected later this year.

The FIFA Blockchain is a custom, EVM-compatible layer 1 (L1) built in partnership with Avalanche and developed by infrastructure company Modex.
The move comes ahead of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and 2026 FIFA World Cup, and comes just after Mythical Games announced an upcoming mobile game (FIFA Rivals) that will reportedly have its own integrated NFT marketplace.

British Museum links historic Dürer's 'Rhino' art to Bitcoin blockchain
The British Museum has collaborated with luxury design firm Asprey Studio to create 11 sterling silver sculptures based on Albrecht Dürer’s 1515 woodcut of a rhinoceros, each with a permanent digital inscription on the Bitcoin blockchain via Ordinals.
The 40cm tall sterling silver sculptures are digitally engraved before being cut into blocks and soldered by experts in a process that takes months, with buyers first receiving a digital inscription while the physical artwork is produced to order, with the inscription linking Asprey’s studio and the British Museum to each piece as a blockchain-based record of provenance.

Vitalik Buterin proposes “partially stateless nodes” to simplify Ethereum participation
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has proposed a new node model that would allow users to run an Ethereum node without storing the full blockchain (currently over 1.3 TB).
This design, known as a “partially stateless node,” allows users to retain only the blockchain data that is most relevant to them, reducing hardware requirements and making it easier for everyday users to help secure the network.
Data outside of the user's selection will be verified as needed using cryptographic proofs, similar to borrowing a book from a shared library.
The proposal builds on Ethereum’s existing plan to reduce historical data storage through Ethereum Improvement Proposal EIP-4444.
Solana shooter game (Nyan Heroes) shuts down due to lack of funds
Nyan Heroes, a Solana-based game featuring mech-wearing cat pilots, is shutting down after developer 9 Lives Interactive was unable to secure the funding needed to finish the game.
Despite the game having over 1 million players on Steam and the Epic Game Store, and 250,000 players wishlisting the game, the team announced that it would cease operations.
While discussions about acquiring studios or intellectual property (IP) are ongoing, no immediate plans have been confirmed, with CEO and creative director Max Fu telling Decrypt: "I estimate that a final decision may take some time."
