Bitcoin Pizza Day is celebrated annually on May 22nd, marking the anniversary of the first real-world transaction using Bitcoin.
đ The Historic Transaction
On May 22, 2010, Laszlo Hanyecz, a programmer from Florida, made history by purchasing two large Papa John's pizzas for 10,000 BTC. At the time, this amount was valued at approximately $41. The transaction was facilitated through a Bitcoin forum, where Hanyecz offered the Bitcoins in exchange for someone ordering the pizzas for him. Jeremy Sturdivant, a fellow forum user, accepted the offer and arranged the delivery.
