Developers from Anza (a division of Solana Labs) have introduced the Alpenglow update, which completely reworks the network's core protocol.

What changes:

⊹ Instead of the TowerBFT consensus, Votor will appear - a system with parallel voting and block finalization in 100-150 ms.

⊹ The new Rotor protocol will replace Turbine - it will speed up the distribution of blocks and reduce the load on nodes.

The goal of the upgrade is to radically improve the speed, scalability, and reliability of the Solana blockchain.
