According to ChainCatcher, as reported by Cointelegraph, the new chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Paul Atkins stated in his speech on May 19 that this is a "new era" for the cryptocurrency industry.

Atkins noted that the "crypto market has been in the SEC's regulatory gray area for years" and emphasized that under his leadership, the SEC will return to its core mission of "promoting, not stifling innovation." He instructed the commission's policy departments to begin developing proposals for rules related to cryptocurrency while continuing to "remove barriers" through staff-level statements.
