🇦🇪 UAE schools teach toddlers to outsmart chatGPT before they can spell it

The United Arab Emirates has taken a bold step by introducing AI education in nursery schools. This initiative aims to progress by teaching children about artificial intelligence from a young age. The decision was made after observing the influence of TikTok on children while adults were distracted. Education Minister Sarah al-Amiri emphasised the need for this course correction, stating that they did not want to repeat the mistakes of the past.

In the coming years, four-year-olds will learn prompt engineering before long division, ethics before algebra, and chatbot bias before cursive writing. The programme is designed to be manageable, with a maximum of 20 hours of education per year. This approach aims to equip children with the knowledge and skills to outsmart smart speakers and avoid plagiarism. The UAE is betting that the next major AI disruptor might still be in its early stages of development.
