The BRP is organized into three critical pillars:
Threat Surface Analysis: Conducting a deep dive into Bitcoin's codebase and network structure to identify potential vulnerabilities from mining centralization, transaction malleability, and cross-chain interactions.
Security Tool Development: Building advanced monitoring tools and open-source libraries for validating transaction integrity, block propagation, and node privacy enhancements.
Community Safety Awareness: Launching global campaigns and multilingual materials to educate users, developers, and institutions about Bitcoin best practices, secure node operations, and wallet protection.
This protocol is spearheaded by Jonas Schnelli and Gloria Zhao, in collaboration with key contributors from Blockstream, Chaincode Labs, and the MIT Digital Currency Initiative.
