Binance and Kraken faced the same attack as Coinbase
Cryptocurrency exchanges Binance and Kraken also encountered an attempt to steal user data, but it was unsuccessful. This was reported by Bloomberg, citing its sources.
In particular, Binance managed to detect and stop an attempt to bribe a customer support employee. According to Bloomberg's sources, the exchange uses AI for this purpose.
Furthermore, the publication noted that at least one major platform, the name of which is not specified, has repeatedly informed Coinbase about a potential attack. Binance and Kraken declined to comment on the situation.
Recall that Coinbase disclosed the fact of a user data leak on May 15, 2025. According to the exchange, the incident affected less than 1% of all users, and it will take between $180 million and $400 million to fully mitigate its consequences.
Despite the exchange's willingness to compensate for the losses, it faced criticism for delaying the disclosure of details of the incident. Additionally, two class-action lawsuits have been filed against it.
