The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that starting July 1, 2025—marking the beginning of the new fiscal year—currency notes bearing pen marks or any written text will no longer be accepted.

This policy is aimed at improving the cleanliness and durability of banknotes, preventing defacement, and preserving the integrity of Pakistan’s currency in circulation.
