#EthereumSecurityInitiative Strengthening Ethereum Through Community-Driven Security Audits*
The Ethereum Foundation, in collaboration with Immunefi, has launched the inaugural Ethereum Protocol Attackathon—a groundbreaking, community-driven security audit initiative. This event aims to fortify Ethereum's core protocol by leveraging the collective expertise of the global security research community.
The Attackathon commenced with an educational phase, offering participants comprehensive resources through the Attackathon Academy. This phase included live technical walkthroughs and in-depth materials to prepare researchers for effective vulnerability identification. [1]
Following the educational segment, the competition phase engaged over 45,000 security researchers in a time-bound audit of Ethereum's codebase. Participants submitted reports on discovered vulnerabilities, adhering to specific rules to qualify for rewards. [2]
The initiative boasts a substantial reward pool of $1.5 million, seeded by the Ethereum Foundation and supported by sponsors such as Bybit, Wormhole, Arbitrum, The Graph, GMX, and Base.
