Back in 2010, a man named Laszlo Hanyecz unknowingly made history.

He posted on a forum:

“I’ll trade 10,000 BTC for two pizzas.”

At the time, that amount of Bitcoin was worth only $25.

Another user accepted the offer, ordered two Papa John’s pizzas, and had them delivered to Laszlo’s home in Florida.

Laszlo completed the deal by sending over the BTC using a command-line wallet.

And just like that, the first-ever real-world cryptocurrency transaction was born.

Two pizzas.

10,000 BTC.

Today’s value? Around $1 billion (with Bitcoin hovering around $100,000).

Now, May 22 is known as Bitcoin Pizza Day—a celebration of how far crypto has come… and a lesson in hindsight.

Can Laszlo forgive himself? Maybe, maybe not.

But one thing is certain: few will ever know what it feels like to have eaten the world’s most expensive pizza.
