Ethereum Foundation Launches Trillion Dollar Security Initiative

The Ethereum Foundation has announced the launch of the "Trillion Dollar Security Initiative" (1TS), a major security campaign aimed at preparing the Ethereum network to securely manage trillions of dollars in value. The initiative, unveiled on May 14, 2025, is designed to reinforce Ethereum’s infrastructure as the platform continues to grow in adoption and financial importance.

The 1TS initiative focuses on enhancing security across all levels of the Ethereum ecosystem, from wallets and smart contracts to consensus mechanisms and core infrastructure. Its primary objective is to ensure the safety of both individual users storing modest amounts and institutions managing large-scale assets on-chain.

The program follows a three-phase structure: first, identifying key security risks across Ethereum's technical stack; second, implementing targeted solutions to address vulnerabilities; and third, improving the communication of best security practices across the ecosystem to users, developers, and policymakers.

Led by Ethereum Foundation security experts Fredrik Svantes and Josh Stark, the initiative also includes leading figures from the crypto security community such as Samczsun, Mehdi Zerouali, and Zach Obront.

With Ethereum currently securing over $400 billion in assets, the Trillion Dollar Security Initiative marks a critical step toward strengthening the network's resilience and trustworthiness as it scales to meet global demand.
