“I’ll trade 10,000 BTC for two pizzas.”

At the time, those 10,000 bitcoins were worth just $25.

Someone took him up on it, ordered two Papa John’s pizzas, and had them delivered to Laszlo’s home in Florida. Laszlo sent over the BTC using a basic command-line wallet. Just like that, the first real-world cryptocurrency transaction was complete.

Two pizzas.

10,000 BTC.

Current value? Around $1 billion (with Bitcoin near $100,000).

Every year on May 22, the crypto community celebrates Bitcoin Pizza Day—a nod to how far digital currency has come… and a reminder of how brutal hindsight can be.

Does Laszlo regret it? Maybe.

But one thing's certain: very few people can say they’ve eaten the most expensive meal in history.
