Former Binance CEO Zhao Changpeng (CZ) suddenly introduced the story of his dog Broccoli, sparking a wave of meme coins named after his pet.
CZ revealed that the story of getting a dog began a year and a half ago when he was chatting with a friend who owns a zoo in Dubai and asked about dog breeds suitable for the local hot weather. That evening, the friend brought him a young Belgian Malinois, complete with a passport.
Zhao Changpeng stated that he wanted to give the dog a name starting with 'B' and with a green connotation, so he chose 'Broccoli'; he jokingly added that the name sounds a lot like 'Blockchain', saying, 'After all, I can't escape cryptocurrency.'
