Former Binance CEO Zhao Changpeng (CZ) suddenly introduced the story of his dog Broccoli, triggering a wave of meme coins named after his pet.
CZ revealed that the story of getting a dog began a year and a half ago when he was chatting with a friend who owns a zoo in Dubai and inquired about dog breeds suitable for the local hot weather. That evening, the friend sent him a young Belgian Malinois dog along with a passport.
Zhao Changpeng stated that he wanted to give the dog a name starting with 'B' and with a green connotation, so he chose 'Broccoli.' He jokingly said that the name sounds a lot like 'Blockchain,' and 'sure enough, it can't escape cryptocurrency.'
