Trump Considers Trip to Turkey ‘To Save Lives’ Amid Tensions

While en route from Saudi Arabia to Qatar, President Donald Trump told reporters he’s still weighing whether to attend peace talks in Turkey on Thursday. It remains unclear if Russian President Vladimir Putin will be present.

“Things are very tense,” Trump said. “But I might still go if it means saving lives, and then continue with my trip.”

Trump confirmed that Secretary of State Marco Rubio will represent the U.S. at the Istanbul talks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he’ll only attend if Putin does. On Wednesday, Russia announced it would send a delegation, but did not specify who will attend.
