#TrumpTariffs US President Donald Trump signed a decree reducing the customs duty on inexpensive Chinese goods from 120% to 54% starting May 14, 2025 (this applies to goods from Temu and Shein).
The new rules pertain to the "di minimis" scheme, which previously allowed the import of goods worth up to 800$ without duty and with minimal checks. Over 90% of postal parcels in the US come through "di minimis", of which 60% are from China.
