Dr. Nicolas Kokkalis, the father of Pi coin
Head of Technology
Dr. Nicolas Kokkalis is a PhD from Stanford and was the instructor of the first decentralized applications class at Stanford, CS359B, in 2018. His work focuses on integrating distributed systems and human-computer interaction to bring cryptocurrency to the masses.
He started with a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Computer Science, which led him to a PhD at Stanford University and subsequently continued as a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Computer Science department there. During and after his doctoral work, Nicolas created an initial framework for writing "smart contracts" on fault-tolerant distributed systems and many human-centered products including online social applications with over 20 million users and community-driven email assistants.
As a strong and long-term believer in the technical, financial, and social potential of cryptocurrency, he is determined to push them beyond current limitations and is committed to bringing the power of blockchain to more people. By founding Pi Network, he aims to achieve this by improving the current blockchain experience and empowering individuals to create, build, and experience the future of online living through a user-centered design philosophy.
