MetaPlanet buys 1,241 Bitcoin worth $119 million and approaches its big goal
The Japanese investment company MetaPlanet announced the purchase of 1,241 new Bitcoin, at a total cost of $119 million, raising its total holdings to 6,796 Bitcoin, equivalent to approximately $583 million.
The purchase was made at an average price of $95,700 per Bitcoin, which is part of the company's strategy aiming to reach 10,000 Bitcoin by the end of 2025, with a long-term ambition of owning 21,000 Bitcoin, about 1% of the global supply.
The company shows outstanding performance, recording Bitcoin returns of 95.6% in the first quarter of 2025, targeting faster returns than large companies like MicroStrategy. These expansion plans have led to expectations of an increase in MetaPlanet's stock price from 533 yen to 1,340 yen.
MetaPlanet is now considered the largest institutional holder of Bitcoin in Asia and is preparing to expand its global presence with a new branch in Miami.
