I am pleased to announce that Edan Alexander, a U.S. citizen who has been held hostage since October 2023, is returning home to his family. I am grateful to everyone who has been involved in making this momentous news a reality. This was a step taken in the spirit of goodwill towards the United States and made possible by the efforts of mediators — Qatar and Egypt — aimed at ending this brutal war and bringing ALL living hostages and their remains back to their loved ones.

I hope this is the first of those final steps needed to end this brutal conflict. I look forward to the day of this celebration!
