Sunday, May 11, 2025

Finally, the government has decided to ban the Awami League as a terrorist organization. A decision was made during an emergency meeting of the Advisory Council on Saturday night to prohibit all activities of the party under anti-terrorism law until the trial of the Awami League and its leaders is completed at the International Crimes Tribunal.

This announcement from the government comes two days after ongoing protests demanding the trial of the Awami League on charges of genocide and the banning of its political activities. Previously, in October last year, the Bangladesh Chhatra League was banned under anti-terrorism law.
