The SEC’s court filing in the Ripple case on Thursday, May 8, triggered market reaction the following day. XRP rallied to a six-week high of $2.4273 after the settlement filing. However, Democrat SEC Commissioner Caroline Crenshaw dissented, stating:This settlement, alongside the programmatic disassembly of the SEC’s crypto enforcement program, does a tremendous disservice to the investing public and undermines the court’s role in interpreting our securities laws.
