$XRP Theo Odaily, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has officially submitted a settlement agreement with Ripple Labs and the company's executives, Bradley Garlinghouse and Christian Larsen, on May 8, 2025. This agreement ends a legal dispute that lasted four and a half years. Under the terms of the settlement agreement, both parties will jointly request the court to lift the ban on Ripple from the ruling on August 7, 2024, and release funds from the $125 million escrow account. Of this amount, $50 million will be paid to the SEC, while the remaining $75 million will be returned to Ripple.
