The S&P 500 index closed up 0.1% after a volatile trading session. The Dow Jones index rose 237 points, or 0.6%, thanks to a surge in Disney shares.
The Nasdaq, impacted by technology losses, fell 0.3%. The Federal Open Market Committee stated they would keep the overnight lending rate between 4.25% and 4.5%, remaining at the same level since December.
