🇯🇵 Metaplanet continues to "accumulate" Bitcoin as the US and China resume negotiations.

Japan's Metaplanet investment group has just purchased an additional 555 BTC valued at approximately 49.6 million USD, increasing the total number of Bitcoins held to 5,555 BTC – equivalent to more than 482 million USD.

This move comes right after China confirmed the resumption of trade negotiations with the US amid easing geopolitical tensions. The meeting will take place from May 9 to May 12 in Switzerland.

Why is Metaplanet buying more $BTC BTC?

  • The company is pursuing a strategy of converting assets into Bitcoin as a defensive hedge against macroeconomic instability.

  • Metaplanet is also establishing a subsidiary in Florida, USA to raise an additional 250 million USD from the US financial market to support the plan of "acquiring BTC."

  • This is the latest deal in Metaplanet's series of consecutive BTC purchases since the beginning of 2024, funded by zero-interest bonds and stock purchase rights.
