The Ethereum Pectra upgrade is another major hard fork following the Merge in 2022 and the Dencun upgrade in 2024, combining improvements to the execution layer (Prague) and consensus layer (Electra), which will enhance network scalability, security, efficiency, and user experience. The main goals include simplifying wallet operations through account abstraction, reducing transaction complexity. Optimizing the validator mechanism to improve staking flexibility and reduce network burden. Enhancing L2 scalability, increasing blob capacity, and lowering L2 transaction costs.
