US President Donald Trump launched a digital currency known as $TRUMP in January 2025, on the Solana network, as a meme coin with a political theme. One billion coins were issued, of which 200 million were made available to the public, while Trump-affiliated companies retained 800 million coins. The currency experienced a significant increase in value, with its market capitalization surpassing 27 billion dollars within two days of launch, sparking widespread controversy over conflicts of interest and the use of political office for personal gain. Analyses showed that about 764,000 wallets incurred losses, while 58 wallets made profits exceeding 10 million dollars each. This project led to calls for increased oversight of government officials' transactions in the digital currency space.
