【Stunning Hacker Strikes Again】Voltage Finance Loses $182,000 in ETH, Hacker Losses Exceed Record in 2025!

Voltage Finance has suffered a hacker attack, with $182,000 worth of ETH transferred to the mixing service Tornado Cash. The hacker incident triggered by vulnerabilities in this platform in 2022 has flared up again, with the hacker suddenly acting after a five-month silence.

Hacker Reappears, Fund Flow Chaotic

On May 6, blockchain security firm CertiK revealed that the hacker associated with the 2022 vulnerabilities in Voltage Finance transferred 100 ETH through Tornado Cash. This address had not conducted any transactions in the past 166 days, and this fund transfer exposed the traces of the early attackers. Tornado Cash has previously been sanctioned for suspected money laundering, and the hacker used this platform to obscure the flow of funds, making tracking more difficult.

Historical Vulnerabilities of Voltage Finance

As early as March 2022, Voltage Finance was attacked due to an ERC677 token vulnerability, resulting in the theft of approximately $4.67 million in digital assets. The hacker exploited this vulnerability to initiate a reentrancy attack, stealing multiple assets on the platform, including funds borrowed against WETH and WBTC pairs. Although the vulnerability only affected the Voltage deployment on the Fuse network, this attack still caused significant losses to the platform.

Severe Blow Again in 2025

In March 2025, Voltage Finance was attacked again. This time, the attacker stole over $320,000 through the platform's Simple Staking pool. The platform suspended related activities and urgently investigated the identity of the hacker. The attacker utilized ETH withdrawn from exchanges, transferring assets through multiple wallets and attempting to launder them. Voltage Finance also proposed a peaceful resolution to the hacker and was willing to pay a $50,000 bounty to recover the funds.

Record High Losses from Hacker Attacks in 2025

According to the latest Immunefi report, hacker attacks and vulnerabilities related to cryptocurrency in 2025 have caused $1.74 billion in losses, surpassing the total amount for the entire year of 2024. These attacks include significant hits to multiple exchanges and platforms, plunging the entire cryptocurrency industry into a crisis.

This hacker storm raises concerns about how the security situation in the cryptocurrency market will develop in the coming months.
