In recent days, we have received numerous inquiries from customers regarding mobile wallets. Here are unified responses to several situations:
(1) Forgotten mnemonic phrase, lost phone, can it be recovered?
You must retrieve the phone, have a keystore backup, or have exported the private key. If you don't have any of these, you can only bid farewell to your coins, congratulations on contributing to cryptocurrency deflation.
(2) Forgotten mnemonic phrase, uninstalled wallet from the phone, can it be recovered?
If you have just uninstalled the mobile wallet, you should immediately disconnect from the internet and turn off the phone; there is still hope for recovery at this point.
If it has been months or even years since uninstallation, the chances of recovery are diminishing.
(3) Forgotten mnemonic phrase, factory reset the phone, can it be recovered?
Similar to the above, although this situation is harder than (2), if you have just performed a factory reset and haven't used the phone for several days, there is still a slight chance of recovery.
In summary, you must have at least one of the following: mnemonic phrase, phone, keystore backup, or exported private key. If you have none of these, recovery is impossible. Some customers say they have an address and password; you have only the key but no lock, what wallet can you open?
In fact, the chances of recovery in the above three situations are very low, essentially hoping for a miracle.
So remember:
(1) You must record the mnemonic phrase and password in a notebook, lock it in a safe or store it in a secure location. Do not place it carelessly, as it can easily be burned, flooded, or thrown away as waste paper (there are customer cases for all three situations, with amounts starting from tens of millions, the highest being a small target);
(2) Do not easily reset your phone. When you get a new phone, copy all data to the new phone, and only consider resetting the old phone after using it for half a year or a year. Moreover, wallet files cannot be backed up to another phone.
(3) Never uninstall the mobile wallet APP; even if you can't log in or it doesn't run, do not uninstall it. At least the wallet files are still inside, and once uninstalled, all data is lost, making recovery very difficult.
