Binance Leads the Charge: Inside the Crypto Giant’s Bold Response to the Thailand Earthquake Crisis

In the aftermath of the devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar and Thailand on March 28, 2025, Binance has emerged as a key force in disaster response. The quake, centered near Mandalay, caused widespread destruction, with over 5,400 deaths and more than 11,000 injuries in Myanmar. Thailand, too, suffered significant damage, particularly in Bangkok where an under-construction skyscraper collapsed.

Responding swiftly, Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) donated 500 BNB each to Myanmar and Thailand — totaling over \$624,000. These funds aim to deliver rapid relief to the hardest-hit communities. CZ noted that unless a transparent, on-chain donation system is available, the funds will be distributed via Binance and Binance Thailand for efficiency and accountability.

This move underscores the growing role of crypto platforms in real-world crises. With fast, traceable transactions, blockchain donations offer a new standard in emergency aid. Binance’s bold action marks a pivotal moment in tech-driven humanitarian response.
