FOMC (Federal Open Market Committee) is a committee consisting of 12 members: 7 members of the Board of Governors of the FED and 5 Presidents of the regional Federal Reserve Banks (with the President of the FED New York as a permanent member, and the other 4 positions rotating annually).

📅 Content and goals of the FOMC meeting

FOMC meets regularly 8 times a year (approximately every 6 weeks) to: 

• Assess the economic situation: Analyze indicators such as GDP growth, inflation, unemployment, consumer spending, industrial production… 

• Decide on monetary policy: Make decisions regarding the federal funds rate, buying/selling government bonds to control money supply and stabilize prices.
