Direct transfer of Bitcoin between #Bitcoin and #Cardano networks was carried out without the use of bridges

In a significant advancement for interoperability between blockchains, the first direct transfer of Bitcoin (BTC) between the main networks of Bitcoin and Cardano was successfully completed on May 4, 2025.

The operation was conducted by the Sundial Protocol in partnership with AdaHandle, utilizing a new token standard that eliminates the need for bridges — mechanisms usually used for transfers between different networks, but which involve security risks.

This achievement was highlighted by the profile BTC_OS, and raises expectations about when other popular networks, such as Ethereum (ETH) and Solana (SOL), will be able to adopt similar solutions.
