🕵🏼Apple announces integration of crypto wallets in iOS 18 focusing on security and usability🕵🏼

Cupertino, May 3, 2025 — Apple surprised the technology market this Friday by announcing, through the hashtag #AppleCriptoUpdate, the arrival of native cryptocurrency features in the anticipated iOS 18. The update promises to integrate digital wallets directly into the operating system, allowing users to store, send, and receive assets like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and stablecoins, all with the company's characteristic security.

According to the official statement, Apple Wallet will begin to support multiple blockchains, initially focusing on Ethereum and Solana. Users will be able to view their balances, transaction history, and even make payments with cryptocurrencies using Face ID and Apple Pay, wherever accepted.

The highlight, however, is in the security approach: private keys will be stored encrypted on the Secure Enclave chip, keeping custody entirely with the user. Additionally, the company stated that it will not collect transaction data, reinforcing its commitment to privacy.

Industry experts see the move as a game changer. “It’s the push that retail needed to accelerate the adoption of cryptos in daily life,” said Mariana Lopes, an analyst at CriptoBrasil.

iOS 18 will be officially released in September, but a beta version for developers with the new functions will be available starting next month.
