Last year, hackers got into my Gmail account. They immediately changed my recovery phone, backup email, and locked me out.
I knew what was coming next — they were going after my crypto.
I rushed to transfer my USDT from Binance, but I had Google Authenticator linked to that same Gmail.
No OTPs were reaching me.
They had full control.
Within minutes, I watched $600 USDT vanish from my hot wallet.
And I couldn’t do anything… just watch it happen.
Luckily, with help from YouTube support on Twitter, I recovered my Gmail — but it was too late.
What I Did After That:
Switched my 2FA to a hardware security key
Removed sensitive recovery links to Gmail
Moved all serious holdings from hot wallets to cold wallet. You can use cold wallets like Ledger, Tangem, SafePal
My Advice:
Don’t wait to get hacked to take your security seriously.
If your crypto is in a hot wallet, it’s just one phishing link away from being gone.
Store cold. Stay safe. Own your keys.
