#AppleCryptoUpdate

Here are the latest updates regarding Apple's dealings with cryptocurrencies (crypto) until May 2025:

Technical Updates:

Apple has announced the opening of the payment chip (NFC) in iPhones to external developers, allowing the development of applications that support digital payments using stablecoins like USDC. According to Jeremy Allaire, the CEO of Circle, this step paves the way for the possibility of payment via "Tap to Pay" using digital currencies in the near future.

App Store Updates:

Apple has updated the App Store review guidelines to include new rules related to cryptocurrencies and NFTs. Under these rules, applications are allowed to facilitate transactions or transfer digital currencies through approved exchanges, provided they are licensed in the region where the application is distributed.

Applications are also allowed to sell digital tokens, but without unlocking additional features or content, and this must be done through in-app purchases.

Security Warnings:

Recently, scams have emerged using Apple's name to promote fake programs claiming to offer free cryptocurrencies.

For example, a fake video was discovered using "Deepfake" technology featuring Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, inviting users to sign up for free cryptocurrencies by scanning a QR code.
