Hello readers,

Recently, I’ve been a bit 'lazy' in posting technical analysis. Actually, I’ve been busy experimenting with a quite hot feature – copy trading.

And the result? I once achieved a profit of 1900% in a month, then… lost nearly 90% of the total amount overnight. In short, it was a failure. But from that experience, I learned quite a few lessons. Before sharing the lessons, let’s review this journey together.

Stage 1 – Getting into the game

I started with 100 USD, using copy trading in the futures market.

The first order I placed was 50 USD, with a stop loss at 50%, choosing someone with high ROI.

→ Result: Quick stop loss order, I lost 25 USD.

Seeing that, I divided the money, each order from 10–20 USD, choosing different people, raising the stop loss rate to 70%, 80%, then 95%.

However, while the money kept 'evaporating' without seeing any profits, I started to worry and stopped copying.

And ironically, the next day that person again… entered a very strong winning streak.

👉 Summary of the first month: Lost 70 USD, remaining 30 USD.

Stage 2 – All in and bitter

I deposited an additional 100 USD, this time choosing people with ROI over 200% in 7 days, the account has only been active for 3 days.

I all-in the entire 100 USD into that person with a stop loss rate of 95%.

→ Result: Lost 80 USD on the first day.

Immediately I stopped copying, feeling extremely disappointed and blaming myself for 'being reckless'.

👉 Summary: Lost an additional 80 USD, remaining 50 USD.

Stage 3 – Changing strategy

Determined to change my approach, I deposited an additional 100 USD but this time not just relying on ROI or PnL.

I began to analyze additional factors such as:

MDD (maximum drawdown)

Profit and loss of the copier

Number of active days

I categorized two groups of lead trading:

Group 1 – Veteran:

Stable ROI

Low MDD

Activity > 90 days

→ Advantages: Safe, peace of mind

→ Disadvantages: Very low profit (for example 10 USD only earns 0.001 – 0.005 USD/order)

Group 2 – New, high risk:

Sudden ROI

Activity < 7 days

→ Advantages: High profit

→ Disadvantages: Extremely high risk

Because of my 'gambling nature', I chose group 2. Continuing the experiment, I lost another 30 USD for a few ineffective people.

But then, fortunately, I chose the right 2 extremely effective people:

Person 1: Turn 20 USD → 75 USD

Person 2: Turn 20 USD → 400 USD

→ This is the moment of achieving a profit of 1900%

The peak moment:

Both people entered a Long order. My account at that time was 200 USD.

Watching the money drop: 200 → 150 → 100 → 50 USD. I almost cut my losses many times.

But after 8 hours, the account went from 200 → 500 USD.

And the final drop

Three days later, they entered another similar order – but it was a dead order.

Happening at night, in the morning when I opened the app, the remaining 500 USD… was down to 50 USD.

👉 Summary: Lost 250 USD, remaining 50 USD

(Note: The remaining 50 USD I used to play futures myself, sometimes earning 200%, but in the end… lost everything.)

Temporary conclusion

Today’s sharing is quite long, so I will dedicate the experience and lessons learned to a separate article.

Thank you

Thank you for taking the time to read this entire sharing.

Although this is just a personal experience, I hope it gives you a more realistic perspective on copy trading – a potential tool but also full of risks if not understood clearly.

Wishing you always keep a cool head, a warm heart, and a green account. Trade wisely, don’t let greed lead the way.

Wishing you success on your own investment journey!
