Cryptocurrency adoption in Latin America, Mercado Pago and Circle have integrated the USD Coin (USDC) stablecoin into Mercado Libre's digital payments platform in Chile. This initiative allows more than 2 million Chilean users to buy, sell, and store USDC directly from the Mercado Pago app.

USDC is a stablecoin whose value is pegged to the US dollar, offering a reliable digital alternative to preserve value in the face of economic volatility. Matías Spagui, Senior Director of Mercado Pago, highlighted: "With the launch of this stablecoin, we seek to diversify access to cryptocurrencies and offer users an alternative that matches"
