#StablecoinPayments

Given the current market conditions, the capitalization of stablecoins may reach $2 trillion by 2028. This follows from a report by the U.S. Treasury published on April 30, 2025.

However, as officials believe, this figure could significantly increase in the coming years:

"Due to changing market trends, the growth trajectory of stablecoins is accelerating, and there is a likelihood that the market capitalization may reach approximately $2 trillion by 2028."

At the same time, dollar stablecoins, according to the report, dominate the sector. They account for about 99% of the total capitalization figure. This, according to the Treasury, is the reason for increased attention to the formation of a regulatory framework for the segment in the U.S.

Stablecoins, in general, are referred to in the report as "on-chain cash" and a new payment mechanism. At the same time, tokenized money market funds (MMF) serve as an alternative for them, as they provide an embedded yield mechanism.
