Wall Street Under Trump: 100 Days of Disappointment and Confused Markets
The first hundred days of President Donald Trump's second term have represented one of the worst starts Wall Street has seen since the 1970s, in stark contrast to his promises of a significant leap in the stock market.
At the beginning of the year, optimism prevailed among investors in the U.S. markets, driven by Trump's statements about anticipated regulatory relief and tax cuts aimed at stimulating economic activity.
But this optimism quickly dissipated, as the markets experienced a sharp decline of 7.8% in the S&P 500 index during the period from January 20 until the close of the session on Monday, due to escalating trade tensions.
