Wall Street Under Trump.. 100 Days of Disappointment and Turbulent Markets
The first hundred days of the second term of U.S. President Donald Trump marked one of the worst starts that Wall Street has seen since the 1970s, in stark contrast to his promises of a significant leap in the stock market.
At the beginning of the year, optimism prevailed among investors in the U.S. markets, driven by Trump's statements about anticipated regulatory easements and tax cuts aimed at stimulating economic activity.
However, this optimism quickly dissipated, as the markets experienced a sharp decline of 7.8% in the S&P 500 index during the period from January 20 until the close of Monday's session, due to escalating trade tensions.
