Binance was inspired by a game of poker
The founder of Binance, Changpeng Zhao (CZ), first heard about Bitcoin in 2013 while playing poker at a home party. This moment became a turning point in his life: he sold his apartment in Shanghai to invest in cryptocurrency and founded Binance in 2017. Interestingly, in 2019, Binance held a charity poker tournament, raising over $170,000 to install solar panels and provide educational materials to 15 schools in Uganda.
