Foreign ministers from the BRICS countries, including China and Russia, criticized the "return of trade protectionism" on Tuesday during a meeting in Rio de Janeiro, which was dominated by US President Donald Trump's trade policies, particularly the tariffs he recently imposed.
Mauro Vieira, Foreign Minister of Brazil, which holds the rotating presidency of the group, said that the 11-member BRICS group emphasized its "categorical rejection" of trade protectionism.
