US Secretary of Commerce: When major issues are over, it will be Bitcoin's turn
US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick said that they will first focus on big issues such as making global trade fair and 'bringing peace to the world', and that after this process is completed, Bitcoin will be moved to the top of the agenda.
US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick said Bitcoin will come to the fore after major issues such as global trade and “bringing peace to the world” have been resolved.
In an interview with Bitcoin Magazine, Lutnick said, “The president's priority right now is to make global trade fairer. He said we will make great improvements in 90 days. So, this is the topic of the next few months. Then there are efforts to bring peace to the world. It's really extraordinary to work with a leader who is trying to reorganize global trade and achieve peace. After these big issues are settled, we will return to Bitcoin. We have already fulfilled the president's promise to create a Bitcoin strategic reserve, but these are the two biggest issues on the agenda right now. After finishing these steps, we can talk more about Bitcoin," he said.
“We are still in an early period”
In the same interview, Lutnick also said that Bitcoin is still at an early stage. The US minister stated that he recognized Bitcoin in 2017, then made small purchases and then increased the amount. “That period was an early period, but I think we're all still early when it comes to Bitcoin,” Lutnick said.
“Bitcoin mining will explode”
The minister also stated that they have made various regulations regarding Bitcoin mining. “If you find the right place, you can now set up your own power plant next to your data center. Thus, you are not connected to the grid and you are not exposed to complaints about energy use." Lutnick said that Bitcoin mining in the USA will accelerate and even explode.
