Lawmakers voted to pass Senate Bill 1025 (SB1025) and Senate Bill 1373 (SB1373), reflecting interest in digital assets at the state level, Cointelegraph reports.
On April 28, SB1025, which proposes amendments to the Arizona statute to create a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, was adopted with 31 votes in favor and 25 against. A similar bill, SB1373, which expands the scope to include various digital assets, received even greater support - 37 votes in favor and 19 against.
"This bill is similar to proposals being considered in about 15 other states," said Representative Jeff Weninger. He explained that the legislation would allow the Arizona State Treasurer to allocate up to 10% of certain funds in Bitcoin and possibly other cryptocurrencies, laying the groundwork for future integration of digital assets as the sector continues to evolve.
