According to sources, Kakarot – backed by Vitalik and StarkWare – is developing an independent zero-knowledge (ZK) proof system for Ethereum. This system is expected to achieve real-time block proof capability for Layer 1 by the end of 2025. The goal is to enhance the diversification and sustainability of Ethereum's validation system.
Kakarot uses the Cairo language and the STARK system, avoiding reliance on existing ZK technology. This enhances the independence and scalability of the Ethereum ecosystem, aiming to achieve complete ZK by 2028.
