#TrumpTaxCuts : Heated Debate Over the 2025 Tax Cut Plan

The administration of President Donald Trump is pushing for major legislation to make permanent the individual tax cuts from the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) of 2017, as well as adding new incentives such as tax exemptions on tips, overtime pay, and Social Security benefits. However, this plan faces significant challenges in Congress due to projected costs reaching $4.6 trillion and concerns over the growing budget deficit.

The Republican Party in the House and Senate has different approaches: the Senate tends to allow increased debt with minimal spending cuts, while the House proposes large cuts to programs such as Medicaid. This difference creates internal tensions, especially regarding the controversial limits on state and local tax (SALT) deductions.
