⌞The Truth About Airdrops⌝
Dear airdrop enthusiasts, let's be honest, how do you feel when you see an airdrop project you’ve been eyeing being posted online by a top influencer, drawing tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of views?
🌈 Overjoyed → Calm and Peaceful → Sorrowful → Furious → Tearful?
Speaking for myself, if I encountered such a situation, I would feel quite disappointed. No matter how much data analysis, project research, interaction strategies, and other studies you’ve done beforehand, once a top influencer shouts it out, it means the airdrop profits for that project will plummet dramatically for two reasons:
🟠 Shrinking Shares
As the hype increases, the number of participants grows. A cake that was shared among 10,000 people now has to be divided among 100,000. Previously, you could get 500 U, but now you only get 50 U. If the studio rushes in, you might only get 0.1 U. This is not hard to understand, right?
🟣 Human Arrogance
The project team may become subtly arrogant due to sustained hype. Hype brings not just traffic but also a rapid increase in project valuation. I’ve even seen several project teams (without naming names) turn the shares initially set aside for airdrops into negotiable chips for profit exchange. The first to be sacrificed are often the early participants who are seen as expendable. I’ve already moved my assets to Binance; who needs a community?
✅ In the crypto world, there’s a saying: if you understand why people stutter when discussing arbitrage strategies but are very forthcoming when talking about which meme coins to buy, you’ll grasp how this world operates.
This article was inspired by seeing the top crypto KOL @blknoiz06 post about @SuccinctLabs, candidly expressing thoughts on airdrops. The big shot @0xCRASHOUT even ambiguously commented below: "Do you want an invitation code?" Hahaha, that made me laugh.
Fortunately, Succinct is a project that requires an invitation code; otherwise, this project would have been completely swept away. Look at the studio’s masterpiece @monad_xyz, which is about to surpass 300 million addresses. Reflect on your position in this layout.
Do you think I’m being alarmist? Think back to your deep involvement in projects; have you encountered such situations?
Those who have changed their hearts, drifting away across the horizon.
