These days I've been researching something that seems basic, but that I didn't fully understand: What is a wallet in crypto really?

I always thought that having crypto on the exchange was enough, but I understood that the wallet is much more than a "place" to store coins. In reality, it is the tool that allows you to control your private keys, meaning you have real control over your funds.

I also discovered that there are two main types:

  • 🔥 Hot Wallets: connected to the internet, more convenient for day-to-day use, but less secure if not taken care of properly.

❄️ Cold Wallets: offline, ideal for long-term storage because they are more secure.

What has become most clear to me is this phrase:

👉 "If you don’t have your keys, it’s not really your crypto."

For now, I am still using Binance, but I already understand why many recommend having an external wallet if you are going to hold for a long time.

Do you use any wallet? Do you recommend any particular one for those of us who are just starting?
