#TariffsPause
In April 2025, President Donald Trump announced a 90-day pause in the enforcement of new tariffs for most of the United States' trading partners, excluding China, whose imports face a high tariff of 145%. This measure was driven by the decline of financial markets and the pressure from business leaders and economic advisors who warned about the negative effects of such aggressive tariff policies. Although Trump claimed to be negotiating with China, Beijing denied that any talks were taking place, increasing international uncertainty. Additionally, electronic products such as phones and computers were temporarily exempted from tariffs in an effort to alleviate the impact on consumers. However, criticisms arose regarding the lack of transparency in the implementation of these policies, especially following suspicions of insider information leaks to certain investors. While the pause provides temporary relief, experts warn that volatility in U.S. trade policy could continue to negatively affect global economic stability in the coming months.
