Several months back, I chose to put a hefty sum, about $8,200, into $ETH keeping it safe (or so I believed) in Trust Wallet. I was confident, having taken standard precautions: strong passwords, two-factor authentication, and careful management of my seed phrase.

One night, I joined a crypto forum to talk about investment strategies. A user with a seemingly credible profile shared a link to a "time-limited staking opportunity" promising high returns. Curious yet cautious, I clicked the link, which took me to a page almost identical to Trust Wallet’s official site. It prompted me to "connect my wallet for verification," and in a lapse of judgment, I entered my recovery phrase.

Nothing occurred right away. The page just refreshed, and I dismissed it, thinking it was a failed scam attempt. I quickly changed my Trust Wallet password for good measure.

Days later, I opened my Trust Wallet app to check my Ethereum, and my heart sank . My balance was zero. I frantically checked the transaction history and saw my entire ETH holding transferred to an unknown address. It happened silently, without any alerts or warnings.

Realizing I’d been phished, I reached out to Trust Wallet support and submitted a formal report. They confirmed my account was compromised via a "seed phrase leakage," and after thorough verification, they froze the associated wallet address on their internal blacklist.

Currently, the account is frozen, preventing the hacker from moving the stolen funds further. I’m still awaiting the final decision, hoping for a way to recover at least some of what was taken.

It’s a tense and uncertain waiting game, but I’m clinging to hope that things will turn out okay.
